Christian McManus
French-Chilean artist, Chrisitan McManus was born in Santiago de Chile in 1965. After studying photography in his hometown at the FOTOFORUM school, he became a freelance photographer. He mainly worked with graphic design agencies and became a specialist in corporate photography, particularly in the field of portraiture.
Il a collaboré avec le magazine Capital au Chili depuis le premier numéro jusqu'en 2003. En 1997 il démarre sa série "Quartiers du monde" qui l'amène à voyager aux quatre coins de la planète durant les dix années qu'il lui consacre. En 2003, il s'installe à Paris où il vit et travaille depuis, menant de front son activité de portraitiste chez Harcourt et sa recherche personnelle. Il collabore avec Marie-Claire (France) et Cosas (Chili).
In 2004, he began to exhibit in France his series "Quartiers du Monde" at festivals and photo associations, art fairs and especially at the Jamault Gallery. Since 2006, the gallery represents him in Paris. McManus has exhibited his work in Chile, France, the United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, Japan and China.
In 2005, he began developing the series "Evolution", which will be exhibited for the first time at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Santiago, Chile in 2009.
In 2010 the work "Evolution" obtained the UNESCO label within the scope of "2010, Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures".
Depuis 2012 McManus vit et travaille entre Paris, Santiago et Pucon (Chili) dans le but ultime d'un échange d'expériences dans les domaines suivants: travail, art et enseignement.
McManus is now represented in France by the Jamault and Blin plus Blin galleries.
