Stan Brakhage
Stan Brakhage (1933-2003) was an American film director. One of the most prolific filmmakers of the 20th century, he made over 300 experimental films between 1952 and 2003. Stan Brakhage was a cinema-goer from an early age. Mothlight is an American animated film directed by Stan Brakhage, released in 1963. The film was created without the use of a camera. Using the direct-film technique, Stan Brakhage sandwiched dead leaves and insects between two films. The result is a shimmer of wings and translucent bits on the screen.
